Do you need a website to be a successful marketer online? Technically, no. There are ways to make money without your own website. But you will be severely limiting your business potential if you don’t get one set up.

Considering how easy it is to get a good looking website online within a day, you would be crazy to not get it done.

Not convinced? Let’s look at a few reasons what I say you need one.

Your website is your home base

How many services do you use? How many billions of profiles do you have out there on various sites and networks? Those are all fine, but you need a home base – a place you can call your own.

It’s your online business card

Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and the like are great but you can’t control them. With your website, you can show as much (or as little) of who you are as you wish.

This is a blank canvas for you to go crazy. You can’t say that about third party sites.

Show off your products and skills

Your website is a fantastic place to showcase your own products and what you can do. If you have products to sell, go into detail about them. Show visitors what you offer and how you can help.

It’s accessible 24/7 from anywhere

A website works even while you don’t. It doesn’t matter if it’s 3 AM. Your web presence or lack thereof says a lot about you.

It’s a magnet for new customers

A good site can attract new clients and customers like a magnet. You want it to be professional, attractive and usable. Encourage visitors to join your email list for updates or to receive a free product.

Get a more professional email address

When you register a domain name, you can usually create a much more professional email address.

Please don’t use a free email provider for your marketing efforts. Asking someone to contact you at Gmail or Yahoo or the like just SCREAMS amateur.
Instead, set up an email with your domain name – like this: yourname (at ) You will also find a professional email address will perform better in your autoresponder.

Create and encourage discussion

Your website can be a great place for discussion to take place. Comments on your blog posts and articles can provide valuable feedback and interaction with the community.

So here’s the bottom line

Do you absolutely positively have to have a website? No. But without one, you will be fighting an uphill battle with one arm behind your back. As I said, considering how easy it is to get your website up and running, you would be crazy to try to market any product without one. This is by no means an exhaustive case. I’ve hardly scratched the surface!
